B Category – Car Driving Licence
The B category covers passenger cars and light commercial vehicles with a maximum authorised mass of up to 3,500 kg and no more than 9 seats. It also includes the right to drive AM category vehicles and certain agricultural vehicles.
Training Process
- General CPP course (16 hours)
- Additional B category theory course (8 hours)
- Theory test at the examination centre
- Minimum of 20 practical driving lessons
- Practical driving test
Requirements
- Minimum age: 17.5 years
- Valid medical certificate
- First aid certificate

Want to get on the road earlier? You can start driving at 16 through our Driving with a Supervisor programme and gain valuable experience before taking your practical driving test.
Automatic Transmission Option
You can also complete your B category licence using a vehicle with an automatic transmission. Training is carried out on a modern VW T-Roc automatic vehicle. After passing the test, code 78 is entered on your driving licence, allowing you to drive vehicles with automatic transmission.
